Crochet Dim Sum for Everyone!

Another of my favorite food for breakfast, dim sum. Dim Sum originated from the chinese, with the popular ones coming from Hong Kong. The Hong Kong style dim sum comes with a large variety of steamed and deep fried food. Most people prefer the steamed compared to those that are deep fried. It is usually eaten with chinese tea as breakfast in most places.

My crochet version of dim sum comprises of 10 different types.

Pork Bun - Also known as 'Char Siu Bao'. Steamed Bun with filling of pork inside. May also be different type of filling such as lotus paste.

Egg Custard Tart - Known as ' Dan Tart' in Chinese, is made from normal tart skin with egg custard filling in middle. Best to be eaten fresh out of the oven!

Prawn Dumpling - Also called 'Har Gau'. As the name suggest, the filling is all fresh prawn wrap in thin dumpling skin which then steamed to cook. My favorite of all din sum!

Mini Spring Roll - Known as 'Chun Kuen'. Ingredients consists of all thinly shredded carrot, turnip and some meat.

Panfried Dumpling - Similar to prawn dumpling but with different ingredients. Usually pork was used as main ingredients. It is panfried and not steamed.

Sesame Seed Ball - Deep fried ball of flour with filling of red bean paste and covered with sesame.

Shao Mai - Most popular type of Dim Sum. Made from pork and steamed using bamboo steamer.

Rice Noodles Roll - Also known as 'Cheung Fun'. Made from thin rice flour paste and steamed with filling of either prawn or pork (char siu).

Taro Dumpling - Made from taro (also known as yam) with filling of 'char siu' and deep fried.

Lotus Leaf Rice - Known as ' Lo Mai Gai'. Steamed rice with filling of chicken on a lotus leaf.

How i wish i could have all these right now!

Happy Crocheting everyone!

Christmas is just 2 months away. Now is the time for all the crafters to prepare for the celebration and so do I. I have design a christmas log cake for the holiday season. You could use this as decoration or for table center piece. Christmas is not complete with a log cake.

This log cake measures 8.5 inches and decorated with snow as the base and berries. As usual my patterns will be available in Ebay, Etsy, DaWanda and Ravelry.
